If it were me, I'd be interested if this is a contractual position or an at will arrangement. The former gives you some protection, the latter gives you nothing.
I'd also want to know what my powers of hiring %26amp; firing staff are going to be? Normally, a manager should have the right to pick his own staff. But if you're stuck with a bunch of whiny cry babies as your employees, it puts you in a bad spot.
And when it comes to current staff, you'd want to know what the turnover rate is. A high rate would indicate dissatisfaction or poor selection process. ( At some fast food places, they have 200% turnover rate per year.) And also what the average amount of time the staff has currently. Sometimes it's a good thing if you have an older staff, if they're all doing their jobs. But it could also mean they've become complacent %26amp; have taken their eye off of the ball of providing excellent customer service. So you'd want to inquire how often employee reviews are done, %26amp; will have full access to these reviews.
And if they're going to hold your feet to the fire, you want to know what the expectations are going to be. In a down turn economy, where people are being put out of their homes, occupancy rates may be subject to drop from year previous. If you're expected to keep the place full every night at rack rates, it might be an impossible dream.
Questions to ask at Hotel manager interview?
Let them know how inerested you are in buisness.
ask questions such as...
-what will i be doing? duties, respinsibilities, ect.
-what are my hours? are they set or random?
-pay?
-how many positions are there? will i be able to move up in this company or stay at one level?
-what type of benefits are there?
-work man comp?
-what to wear uniform or nice clothes? casual days?
-what to do if customer complains?
-price on objects, such as rooms so on ect.
-what will my training consist of? how long?
-computers? and what for?
-get to know the grounds and everything the hotel/motel consist of?
