I am just wondering if there is any kind of legal act or something that tells me about the legality of that statement for an advertisement........... I am not looking for ethics but for legal issues regarding that.Is it legal to advertise ';Women Can only apply'; for the post of duty manager of a hotel?/?
In most cases, this is illegal. Discrimination on the basis of gender is generally illegal, and advertisements that limit applicants to a specific gender are illegal for the same reason. There are certain limited circumstances where this might be legal, e.g., an attendant in a women's restroom. However, this is rare. The advertisement itself is a red flag to the anti-discrimination agencies that you are practicing illegal gender discrimination. Is it legal to advertise ';Women Can only apply'; for the post of duty manager of a hotel?/?
Just post the advert without any restrictions, and hire the best female applicant. Don't mention to any applicant that you are only going to hire a woman. You get what you want, and the government leaves you alone.
Just remember, a fish wouldn't get caught if it kept its mouth shut.
Unless you wish to draw negative attention to yourself or the company, i would not advertise that, it will be a headache for you. Accept all applicants equally and then YOU can select a woman to fill the position without making it public knowledge.
If it's a woman only hotel or country club/spa, or religious then it's legal, if it's a mixed sex hotel it's illegal
