An undergraduate degree in Hospitality, MBA from a good business school, experience in a variety of departments in a hotel, willingness to relocate to take advantage of opportunities, hard work, a good mentor. My pipedream is to become a general manager of 5star hotel. What hardwork should i do to reach that position?
Try going to a university or special-interest school with hospitality management in their curriculum. There are a lot of 2 and 4 year schools with this option. Then I would get a part-time job at a hotel just to get your feet wet and enahnce your resume.....then get an internship when you get close to graduation and work your levels up, hopefully by the time youre done with school you will have a job offer, and from there its just work work work and make yourself look better than the competition!
MAKE A FRIEND THE RIGHT WAY IN THE BUSINESS AND KNOW THAT THE EXPERIENCE YOU RECIEVE BY BEING REAL IS THE HARD WORK INVOLVED .
Consider higher education for this. There are several universities with outstanding hotel restaurant management programs. One of the best in the world is Northern Arizona University. http://www.nau.edu
Also consider getting a grunt job at a hotel chain and working up while going to school.
Go to college for travel and tourism.
get at least Master's level college degree in the field of Hospitality Services or Hotel Management...
get hired at one right away. that's a great start and an excellent way to start inquiring with other questions. ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS. work your way up.
Go to school in CT. The have the best Hospitality program. Work at the five star you want to manage and tell them that when you hire on and do whatever they tell you to until you are there.
~~*~~ First of all, don't refer to it as ';a pipedream';. Have some respect for the position to start with. Take some courses in business and management. After you have the education you need, start filing out applications at local hotels. You may have to work your way up but, that's the way of a working life. You'll also get a better feel of the environment that way. Good luck!!
