Hotel: Is it commonplace for a Front Desk Manager to give a discounted 3 nite stay?

What about a free 3 nite stay?

I flirted w/a Desk Manager and I think he gave me either a free stay or a 10/day discount. I changed my mind on the guy right after that stay %26amp; the guy was pissed! So is giving a discounted stay or free stay commonplace that he would get SO mad?Hotel: Is it commonplace for a Front Desk Manager to give a discounted 3 nite stay?
When I was a front desk manager it was quite common to give discounts on room rates. He would have known what the availability was like.

Hate to burst your bubble but any discount would be determined by the vacancy level at that particular time. It has nothing to do with you flirting.

As for him getting pissed that is just unprofessional.Hotel: Is it commonplace for a Front Desk Manager to give a discounted 3 nite stay?
I work at a 4 star resort in Hunter Wine Country (NSW, Australia) %26amp; we are able to discount at our discretion.

Our normal price is really only set in concrete for busy periods %26amp; special event weekends so if you are looking to travel I reccommend waiting until off season or going mid week to get really great discounts.

If we are a bit slow we will even throw in free meals or extra complimentary nights to get people to stay with us.
Discounts/ free nights are usually given when occupancy are low and it is up to the desk manager/shift manager to use them. They are told that if a potential customer is considering other hotels, it would better to rent the room at a discount than for it remain empty and generate no revenues.
tipping the desk guy is the best way to get good deals at hotels, give the person booking your room a $20 tip and usually youll get a free upgrade or a discount
It depends on the hotel and there occupancy rate for the evening. I often get upgrades and I don't have to flirt.
