What it takes to be a hotel manager?

I dont particualy enjoy my course at uni (Biology) and I know its completly different but think I would prefer to be a hotel manager, I feel im a good host, and more of a home maker. What other qualities does one need? and what sort of qualifications if i was going to change my course at uni? Thanks for any inputWhat it takes to be a hotel manager?
Financial Background, Supervisory Skills, Troubleshooting on the fly, Patience with the customers, and the willigness to handle mulitple changes (Staff turn over, especially with the maids can be challenging to fullfill so you have to be ready to do the work yourself from time to time). As you know, sometimes folks can be rather nasty in the rooms so you would have to be able to stomach being around germs.
