Can you become a hotel manager with out having any qualifications in Ireland?

ie work your way up from the bottomCan you become a hotel manager with out having any qualifications in Ireland?
of course you can in my opinion someone that has worked his way has twice as many skills than someone who does a course as you will have an understanding of every aspect of your place of employment





also its good to have something to aim for very rewarding

I agree with both posts above. However if your family owns the hotel, then yeah you could become manager no bother!





It would be pretty tricky to work your way up unless it was a very small hotel. You could easily work your way up to be a superviser or something, but to make the leap from there to assistant manager would be difficult. A person with experience and a qualification would be much more likely to get the job.





I would say it is best to get a qualification, and experience ( assistant manager and then apply for a job as manager). If you have a lot of experience in a managerial role, and have insight into the tourist industry and hospitality then you could have a chance, but to get a qualification would be quicker, and you would be more likely to get a better salary.
Sher all them fellas do is bark out orders to people. You don't need qualifications for that, all you need is a bit of neck.


It's like being a supermarket manager. Most of them started off stacking shelves.

No can,t,and if you think you can become a manager without qualifications in a hotel ,you are fooling yourself.
Bloke that manages our local hotel was a sheep farmer.I kid you not.Scouts honour.I never could get my head round that one.Ah well 'tis Donegal after all.Up here it's different(say with a creepy voice.)
there are those courses for unemployed so you can get them, but not really too much of work after all, and not that you can't get those qualifications just working yourself really!
I'm Irish get me Outta Here has a point, but the thing about hotel management courses is that many of them include on the job training.
